w00t! I am really, really satisfied with this one, though I don’t know whether that’s in spite or because of the sleep it’s cost me. I personally feel that it’s a worthy successor to the original Wavespark, while still being a new and different game of its own. Enjoy!
This game’s title was provided by Ben Lehman.
Update: For those of you who are having trouble with the web version, I’ve created a downloadable version for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Game 45: Wavespark II,
Some personal records:
Best Stars: 10
Best Burst: 47250
Best Race: 42.2
Fun times, Nathan. There’s a bit of a learning curve as to when to ping, but it’s very satisfying when you get it.
There were a couple of times when my pings weren’t registering and I was missing stars. If you never plan to update this game, I’d check that out.
Cool game, Nathan. Now get some rest =)

Changelog:
* minor framerate optimizations
* enabled reflections by default
* made race mode easier to trigger
It won’t even start up for me. Here’s what I found in the Java console:
=== Minim Error ===
=== Likely buffer underrun in AudioOutput.
(this was repeated many times)
Exception in thread “Animation Thread” java.lang.NullPointerException
at game45_wavespark_ii.setup(game45_wavespark_ii.java:183)
at processing.core.PApplet.handleDraw(Unknown Source)
at processing.core.PApplet.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
(this only showed once per attempted load of the page)
It’s stopped working for me; it shows a blank screen with this in the console:
Exception in thread “Animation Thread” java.lang.NullPointerException
at game45_wavespark_ii.setup(game45_wavespark_ii.java:183)
at processing.core.PApplet.handleDraw(Unknown Source)

(Maybe the line “frame.setTitle(game_name);” has something to do with it?)
Okay, fixed. No idea why that was the issue, but it was. Thanks for letting me know.
I was afraid of what could be Wavespark 2…and I am finally very surprised. You managed to make a totally different game with the same graphism, the same music, quite the same gameplay, It is awesome, and as fun as the first one (maybe more?)
Unfortenately, the game lag on my computer, like most of the others, but on this one, it really make things difficult.
In Wavespark, the screen sometimes freeze, but you come back where you were stopped.
In Wavesparks 2, the game keep playing without you when the screen freeze, so it is problem (I am not sure it is very clear…)
Other thing : The music keep playing after I shut the window for one or two minutes. Its is weird (and my computer is fairly good)
But those are details. The game is great! (7 stars…i can do better)
I’ve added some downloadable versions. Pierrec, you might want to try that if the web version’s having issues for you.
awesome!
thanks for making a downloadable version, I have not been able to play many of your games online for whatever reason (minim I think doesn’t like to play nice with macs)
I must admit, I never really had much fun with wavespark 1. It was too simple, and there didn’t seem to be much of a point to it, for me at least. I finally tried this one out and I enjoyed playing it very much. Good job!
Wow, there’s a lot more to this than meets the eye.
Nice job!
