The something big is still underway – I wasn’t close enough to completing it yesterday, and I want it to be thoroughly polished when I do release it. So for this week, I made my entry for the monthly EGP challenge, “High Velocity”.
Z to fire, arrow keys to move, and as usual M mutes and P pauses. Warped!

Hmm, so it just ramps up the speed of the stuff flying at you every level? The shooting speed is the thing that really bothers me. The cues as to where the ships will be appearing is useful, but their speed increases while your abilitiy to shoot them always stays super slow. If my abilities to shoot or move also increased with the speed of the stuff coming at me, it would actually be a test of my reaction time, and not a test of how fast the game will let me shoot or move the ship. I’m really looking forward to your other game now though, I hope it isn’t overhyped!
Movement speed does go up gradually, and shot speed is limited only by the fact that you get one bullet onscreen at a time.
Nice game, reminds me of the classic arcade titles, and the “warp error” text presentation of the unique mechanic was a nice touch.
