Well, I certainly had a cryptic title to work with this week, but I think I got something fairly decent out of it. Each level you complete adds a keyboard key to your repertoire. I deliberately diverged from my recent formula of games that are intended to be replayed for a better score; this one’s more of a lightweight game-snack than a… you know, I’m not really sure where I was going with that analogy. Anyway, have fun, and don’t forget to add special instructions. Or something.
This game’s title was provided by Chungyen Chang.
Game 24: add special instructions,
:DDDDDDDD i completely dig this. this would be a really neat game if you continued pursuing it. Perhaps with randomly generated variations?
also, i like that you included my p.s.
Wow, just … that was so fun! Ramping up the complexity of the game was very well done. It really made the games it kinda copied (like asteroids) much more fun when I had to mess with 4 fire buttons instead of the usual one. I was stuck on the 3 firing directions one for quite a while before I figured out I could shoot the things shooting bullets at me, but it was still a blast to try and dodge the 3 streams of bullets and collect orbs before I got killed.
And because it got so hard at the end, it didn’t even need a score, and you recognized that. Kudos!
Okay, sorry for the double post, but I had an idea on my third playthrough, When you retry the game, I think it should get harder to beat, like make the circles disappear if too long of a time passes by, or maybe if you miss a circle you just miss it and need to fail. (providing more reasons and situations to use said button too) Or make the little circles in the second level a little harder to catch, or make circles harder to find in the shooter levels. I usually never touch the hard mode on video games, but I think this one would benefit from it. – Not an escalating difficulty that gets impossible, because those get annoying, but just a slightly harder playthrough the second time.
I lose my temper with the first level where you have to shoot with the L-button.
I really like this game. I wish you did more with the “fail” command, though. It’s really only useful once. Everything else builds really well, though.
