I tried and tried, but with the title of this game being what it is I just couldn’t make a game that was not this game. That being the case, you will not be getting any apologies from me – it was simply not possible to prevent this game from being itself, so I did my best to make this game the game that it wanted itself to be. So go forth and vex already.
This game’s title was provided by cp.
Game 28: Giant Vex,
Personal best: 141 points, wave 10.
Unadulterated brilliance.
This is great fun. There really should be more games that involve taunting.
Getting knifed is the worst.
Not bad, Nathan. I like how you can taunt him from a distance and have him act as an aerial strike of sorts.
My trouble with it is the difficulty. It’s challenging to taunt him and just barely escape his wrath. Especially when you’re trying to run away from him diagonally because the direction keys only do 45º angles well. I think the game might have worked better with analog stick because you could move in 360º granting you a bit more freedom.
The bouncing around is fun. It might be a bit much cuz it takes you away from the game, but short little breaks and aren’t really a bad thing.
The second level of bad guys (the pink ones) behave strangely when they get by the giant. It’s like they got thrown into the air and landed on ice. I’m not sure if it’s a glitch but it seemed a little strange.
I’ll keep trying this one to see if I get better at it.
Peace!
My scores no where near yours =P
Whooo! 129 so far. Very addicting. You can just not vex the giant at all, and get the creatures to kill each other when you jump over them. You can presumably even get the giant killed by getting enough hobgoblins to hit him by jumping over them right next to the giant. (He counterattacks and destroys them of course.) That’s my next goal, if I can ever get it done. I wonder if nmccoy has programmed anything extra in case I do that?
I like how this game is very simple, and yet there is still room to play around and mess with it.
This is great, and not just because it’s a riff on (possibly) your best game!
but seriously, I finally killed the giant by having the smaller enemies attack him, and I don’t get any reward for it? I guess the game isn’t called “Giant Kill”.
@Sam Oooh, you finally killed him? Did the waves keep coming? or did the game end?
Changelog:
* Made giant’s death slightly less trivial.
Ooh, now I’m going to have to try to kill the giant.
My best is only 66 points, but I’ve only tried a couple times so far.
I got 113 on wave 10. Man, this game is hard, but really fun. I think it’s making me a better Dragondot player also
Very fun game, personal best is 637 on wave 22.
I’ve been finding it smooth sailing until around wave 20, but after that I just get surrounded and killed.
I killed the giant, but I think the game should respawn a new giant after the original’s death. I became stuck with one remaining enemy on-screen
(score: lousy 108)
This, Mr. McCoy, is nothing short of awesome! I salute you!
“This is great fun. There really should be more games that involve taunting. ”
Haha, definitely.
Clever game!
I think the kobolds are your best characters.
211 on wave ten, killed the giant, got tired of running circles around the last enemy, after I got all the ninjas and goblins to stab each other by jumping over them.
I do feel as though it would be cool if there were some way to spawn, say, an angrier, indestructible giant or something when you kill the first one.
Are drakelings the last enemies to show up?
Just double-checked the source code, and it seems the answer is yes, currently.
