Sorry it took me so long to get around to posting here, but here it is now – my Ludum Dare 20 entry, Kobold Goes Alone. The theme was “It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this!” Since I’d already done a total zelda ripoff for the last Ludum Dare, I decided instead to revisit the Dragondot universe once again. And the thought of a kobold beating things up with a stick amused me greatly. Changes in this version from my LD entry include an extra hit point for the kobold, the ability to continue from the screen before you died at, and some improvements to the worg’s Fang weapon. Go alone!

Not too bad! I have to admit, sometimes if I make the enemies the club or the spook, I run around trying to dodge them instead of picking them up. Maybe if there were a way to change weapons, you might not have to worry about some of the power-ups being major power-downs?
Where is the Giant?? Did he die during Guant Vex? I’d play 20 more stages of this… especially if I got to play them with the fireball wand. That thing is like Kuribo’s Shoe.
Giant unfortunately didn’t make the cut. And I take it you haven’t discovered the alternate ending, yet…
ha, just found it! Stick is totally the best weapon. Even better than Dragon Claw.
I´ll say it once again, GREAT GAME!
Man, I wish my kobold rogue could pull stunts like that; I have to settle for the ogre throwing me at arrowhawks.
And yeah, the stick is a great weapon, but it just can’t compare to the <3
I have to agree to all of the above comments, this is great fun! I spent an extra hour past my bedtime playing this, and that’s a bad thing when I need to get to the hospital in the morning. This definitely needs some more levels. My only complaint is some of the weapons have very low drop rates, which is really annoying if I want to learn and get better at a certain weapon. Like the fang for instance, I’d love to try with that thing a little more, but it only seems to drop 1/10th of the time, and I haven’t seen a fire wand yet. The knife seems to work against the ninja’s the best, but besides those moments, the stick rocks.
Minor Spoiler:
Okay, so I just figured out how the weapon drops work, after trying to beat the wizard over and over again to get the fire wand. You only get weapons if you aren’t hurt! Kill an enemy at full health and they’ll drop a weapon, So, if you just picked up the fire wand for instance, let yourself get hurt before all those goblins and that pesky ninja, and then don’t pick up the health until they are all dead, or you might find yourself with a knife again.
two questions…
1. does the timer do anything besides keep score? you don’t seem to die when it runs out.
2. is there a SUPER secret ending beyond the one where you make a bad relationship decision? and does it involve the timer?
I don’t think there’s anything new to see after you get to the secret levels. That was a really fun easter egg though.
